Dan Hanson | Director of Asset and Construction Management
Dan Hanson is a senior commercial real estate leader with deep expertise in retail portfolio strategy, asset management, and construction management. During his 15-year tenure at Mid-America Asset Management, eight of which he served as Principal, Dan oversaw 25 million square feet of retail real estate across Chicago and the broader Midwest, a portfolio valued at approximately $3 billion. His work encompassed the full asset management scope, including property operations, financial accounting, and value-creation initiatives across a diverse range of assets.
Dan's experience in capital improvements and construction is equally extensive, spanning routine upgrades to ground-up pad site developments. His direct involvement in every phase of these projects, from planning through completion, includes hands-on navigation of the entitlement process across acquisition, hold, and disposition scenarios, giving him a well-rounded command of how construction and regulatory complexity intersect with investment strategy.
Dan brings analytical rigor and operational discipline to evaluating and executing opportunities on behalf of ownership. His approach is grounded in a strong academic foundation: Dan holds an undergraduate degree and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a licensed real estate broker in Illinois and an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Throughout his career, Dan has remained focused on a single objective, delivering measurable, long-term value. That commitment, combined with his financial acumen, construction knowledge, and market perspective, positions him to drive results across all phases of the investment lifecycle.
